In one sentence
What are Auto Replies?
Auto Replies are rules that answer new App Store and Google Play reviews for you. A rule says which reviews it covers, who writes the reply – Appbot AI or a canned message – and whether that reply is sent to the store automatically or saved as a draft for a person to approve. Everything outside your rules is left for you.
Rules, not a chatbot
Nothing happens unless a rule you wrote matches. Target by star rating, detected language and topic, and keep anything sensitive out of automation entirely.
Send, or draft for approval
Every rule can post automatically or save the reply to the review as a draft for your team to check, edit and send.
Both stores, one place
Works for iOS App Store and Google Play reviews, the two stores that let developers reply, from one rule list per app.
Inside a rule
One rule. Five choices.
Every Auto Reply rule is the same five decisions, in the order you make them in Appbot. The video above walks through each one.
Choose the app
Rules are per app. Pick the app first and everything else in the rule, from the reviews it covers to the signature, is scoped to it.
Which reviews
Tick the star ratings, pick a detected language, and select Appbot's standard topics or your own custom topics. Need a keyword? Make it a custom topic.
How to reply
AI Reply writes a personal answer from each review's rating, sentiment and topics. Canned Reply sends one of your pre-approved messages, word for word.
What to say
Add extra statements to the AI prompt, a signature for every reply, and choose whether to answer in the review's language or one of 100+ others.
Send or draft
Send automatically for the reviews you trust Appbot with. Or save a draft to the review so your team can check, edit and send it. Drafts never post on their own.
After you save
Copy a rule to another app once it works, drag rules to reorder them, and check what went out in Reply Logs, which keep three months of automated and manual replies.
In practice
Three rules most teams start with
Automate the predictable, draft the sensitive, and route the rest to the people who need to see it.
Every happy reviewer hears back within minutes, in their own language, with a reply that mentions what they liked. Praise never goes unanswered.
A draft that already acknowledges the specific problem is waiting on the review. A person checks it, edits if needed and sends.
Where legal or support has approved exact wording, a canned reply sends it unchanged. Regulated teams can run all of Auto Replies this way.
Reviews that need investigating can also be sent to your help desk with Reply via CRM filters, so a rule, a draft and a ticket each go where they belong.
Where it fits
Auto Replies is the hands-off end of AI Replies
The same AI writes every reply. AI Replies covers one-click drafts and drafts for approval; Auto Replies adds rules that can send without you. Mix them per app.
| One-click AI drafts | Auto Reply drafts | Auto Replies | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who writes | Appbot AI, when you click | Appbot AI, as reviews arrive | Appbot AI or a canned reply, by rule |
| Who sends | You | You, after review | Appbot, for the reviews your rules allow |
| Which reviews | Any review, on demand | Reviews matching a rule set to draft | Reviews matching a rule set to send |

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Auto Replies
Is Auto Replies the same as AI Replies?
They share the same AI. AI Replies covers one-click drafts and drafts generated for your approval. Auto Replies adds rules that can send a reply without you, or save one as a draft, for the reviews you choose by star rating, language and topic. Use either or both per app.
Which app stores do Auto Replies work with?
Apple App Store and Google Play, since those are the stores where developers can post a public reply. Before a rule can be created, the app needs to be linked to Appbot through App Store Connect or the Google Play Developer Console with replies enabled.
Can Auto Replies save a draft instead of posting the reply?
Yes. Tick “Save reply as a draft instead of sending” on the rule and Appbot writes the reply to the review inside Appbot without sending it to the store. Your team reviews, edits if needed and sends it manually. Drafts are never posted automatically.
What can an Auto Reply rule filter by?
Star rating, the review's detected language, Appbot's standard topics (such as bugs, pricing, performance or satisfied users) and your own custom topics. To target specific keywords, create a custom topic for them and select it in the rule. Selecting no topics applies the rule to every review that matches the other filters.
Can I control what the AI says in an Auto Reply?
Yes. Add extra statements to the AI prompt (up to 500 characters), a signature appended to every reply (up to 100 words), and choose whether the reply matches the review's language or uses one of 100+ selected languages. Use Draft AI Reply on the sample matching reviews to test the output before saving the rule. If you prefer fixed wording, choose a canned reply instead.
What happens if a review matches more than one rule?
Rules run from top to bottom and the first matching rule wins. Drag rules to reorder them, so put your most specific rules above general ones.
Do Auto Replies apply to reviews I already have?
No. Rules apply to new reviews as Appbot fetches them. Existing reviews can still be answered with one-click AI drafts or canned replies from the Reviews page.
Which plans include Auto Replies?
Auto Replies come with the Large and Premium plans. Replies are unlimited within fair use, and anyone with a Team Leader or Team Member role can create and edit rules. See the Pricing page for current limits.
